The story takes place in a dorayaki specialty shop called "Spring of Gong," where Chitaro (played by Masatoshi Nagase) is the shop manager. He has a dark past that he wishes to forget and has buried those painful memories deep within, living peacefully as a vendor of dorayaki. One day, an elderly man named Tokue (played by Kirin Kiki) arrives at the shop, claiming to apply for a job as a staff member. However, the small "Spring of Gong" does not need any employees, and Chitaro initially plans to reject Tokue. However, after Tokue presents his homemade red bean paste, Chitaro is astonished by its deliciousness and thus Tokue becomes part of the team. As time passes, some negative rumors about Tokue begin to spread in the town, which even affect the shop's business.
