Amin (played by Zhang Min) has lived with her stepfather (played by Cheng Kui'an) and younger sister (played by Hou Bingying) since childhood. Despite their difficult life, the family is happy together. As an adult, Amin works in a hair salon to support the family and pay for her sister’s education. One day, she encounters dancer Ah Hong (played by Zhong Chuhong) in conflict with several business partners. Unafraid of threats, Amin stands up to help Ah Hong, and they become friends. As fate takes a turn, the stepfather is framed and imprisoned, and their mother falls seriously ill. Amin must raise money in a short time, leading her to become a dancer. Under the guidance of Madam Cat (played by Maria), Amin enters the most popular dance hall in Hong Kong and reunites with Ah Hong. Through the hardships of a dancer's life, Amin gradually grows under Ah Hong's mentorship. The two face various challenges together, supporting and caring for each other, forming a bond of life and death. Just when it seems their father will soon be released from prison and life is gaining hope, the stock market crash of 1988 shatters everything like a bolt from the blue. All the money Ah Hong had saved for years has been lost in stocks, leading to a failed suicide attempt. To save her friend, Amin is forced to surrender to the villain Tang Bin (played by Qin Pei), which turns out to be the beginning of a nightmare. Will Amin and Ah Hong be able to survive this ordeal? Can their suffering lead to brightness after darkness?
