In the late 19th century, technological advancements continuously drove industrial progress. In London, the invention-obsessed scientist Phileas Fogg (played by Steve Coogan) often conducts crazy experiments with transportation, despite not receiving recognition from the Royal Academy of Sciences and being merely an amateur. His dangerous experiments have caused his servants to leave him. Liu Xing (played by Jackie Chan), from China, robs the Bank of England to retrieve his hometown treasure, the "Jade Buddha." He attracts the endless pursuit of the British police and the Chinese criminal organization, the Black Scorpion Syndicate. Left with no choice, he adopts the alias "Renegade" to work as Fogg's servant. Phileas Fogg bets his entire fortune and future to circumnavigate the globe in 80 days to replace the outdated president of the academy. Renegade believes he can use this journey to return the Buddha statue home. After setting off, they meet the impressionist-obsessed amateur painter Monique (played by Cécile De France), who requests to join them, and the three board the "Orient Express" with different goals. Although they face numerous obstacles, including a Turkish prince (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger), General Black Scorpion (Gigi Leung), and his subordinates (played by Daniel Wu), the three dreamers are undeterred by any danger.
