Alphonsine (Greta Garbo 饰) was originally a poor girl born in a remote village, sold to a merchant by her greedy father, and after a series of hardships, she arrived in the bustling metropolis of Paris. With her charming beauty and exceptional intelligence, Alphonsine quickly became a courtesan in Parisian high society, living amidst the extravagant nightlife. People bestowed upon her the title "Lady of the Camellias." The hedonistic lifestyle rapidly consumed Alphonsine’s health, leading her to develop a lung disease. A kind duke, seeing in her a resemblance to his recently deceased daughter, extended a helping hand to her. Meanwhile, through a chance encounter, Alphonsine crossed paths with the writer Dumas fils (Robert Taylor 饰) and fell hopelessly in love. However, the vast differences in their experiences and social standings meant that this relationship was doomed to an unsatisfactory end.
