The fox spirit Xiao Wei (Zhou Xun) violates the rules of the demon world to save a person and ends up frozen in the Ice Hell for five hundred years, suffering immensely. Faced with destiny, Xiao Wei has only two choices to escape the icy cave: either be captured back by the ice tongue of the Ice Hell or obtain a "selflessly dedicated" human heart to truly become human. Xiao Wei searches for a target until she unexpectedly encounters Princess Jing (Zhao Wei), who is escaping from marriage and has been disfigured by an accident. Xiao Wei quickly realizes that the princess has a heart different from others, and she places all her hopes of becoming human on the princess. The appearance of the princess in Bai City astonishes Huo Xin (Chen Kun), who had once been a close childhood friend and is now overwhelmed with guilt. He cannot accept the sudden reality that the princess is escaping marriage and intends to elope with him. Xiao Wei discovers the subtle psychological state between Princess Jing and Huo Xin, and her plan starts to take shape. She instills in the princess the idea that a man's love for a woman is merely lust, suggesting that the princess's ugliness is the only reason Huo Xin cannot accept her love. Xiao Wei goes so far as to use her magic to confuse Huo Xin, and when the princess, disguised as Xiao Wei, tempts him and experiences physical pleasure for the first time, she begins to believe in the power of beauty that Xiao Wei speaks of. At this moment, the Kingdom of Tianlang advances, intending to seize the princess, and Huo Xin attempts to resist alone, sacrificing his life for love. However, in a critical moment, he is saved by Princess Jing, which greatly stimulates Huo Xin. He understands what love truly is; being together in the name of love, even if it means dying together, is the essence of love. The dramatic farewell of death changes the life perspectives of the two women. The relationship between Xiao Wei and the princess shifts from seduction and coercion to conspiracy, while Huo Xin, upon learning the truth of their exchanged hearts and skins, blinds himself and even attempts to swap his heart for the princess's heart. The princess's determination to die for love, Huo Xin's courage to fight for true love, and Xiao Wei's effort to change her destiny ultimately create a miracle at the moment of the eclipse...
