In the 1930s, Shanghai. The famous thief Bao De (played by Chunyu Shanshan) is a man of principle, having taken in a group of homeless orphans. One day, Bao De uses stolen counterfeit money to win a large sum of US dollars at a casino, prompting Inspector Zhu (played by An Ruiyun) to order his capture. In court, lawyer Xia Bingyun (played by Zhou Lijing) defends Bao De, leading to his acquittal.
