In the bustling bullfighting arena of Spain, the strong matador Antonio (played by Daniel Giménez Cacho) is participating in a crucial event. In the stands, his beautiful pregnant wife Carmen (played by Inma Cuesta) watches everything anxiously. However, an accident occurs when Antonio is gored by the bull, and the terrified Carmen dies after giving birth to a daughter. During his hospital stay, the scheming nurse Inés (played by Maribel Verdú) cares for Antonio attentively, and she later becomes the new wife of the disabled matador.
