Isaac, a reporter for a public radio station in New York (Tommy Nelson), lost his parents in a car accident during his childhood and has been in a wheelchair ever since. His quiet life is disrupted by a message from a mysterious person known as "Ancient Chinese Girl," which reveals that a healthy man is attempting to bribe a doctor to deliberately amputate his own leg. Isaac decides to investigate this incident, pursuing an exclusive story. However, during his investigation, he encounters a beautiful and mysterious girl named Fiona (Vera Farmiga). Fiona becomes his guide, leading him into an extremely secretive community. In this community, Isaac discovers an unusually peculiar subculture where people seek a form of spiritual sublimation through having physical disabilities.
