The story takes place in the early 20th century Polish countryside, where the innocent and beautiful peasant girl Jagna (played by Kamila Urzedowska) is like a flower blooming in the wilderness, drawing attention yet suffering from the harsh winds of jealousy and disdain. Jagna has feelings for Anteka (played by Robert Gulaczyk), the son of wealthy farmer Boryna (played by Miroslaw Baka), but Anteka is already married and has a rebellious streak, leading to a strained relationship with his father. For financial reasons, Boryna decides to marry Jagna as his second wife, which directly intensifies the conflict between father and son. After a clash, Anteka and his wife and children are thrown out of their home. Meanwhile, Jagna is melancholic, always harboring love for Anteka, and this mutual feeling finally reconnects them. The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Nobel laureate and renowned Polish author Władysław Reymont.
