The film depicts the life journey of a young wealthy farmer, Andre (played by Priit Loog), showcasing his complex relationship with his neighbor, Peelar (played by Priit Võigemast), and his pursuit of justice. Andre, an educated, intelligent, and strong man, buys a deserted farm with his gentle and tolerant wife, Krutt, hoping to start a new life there. However, their neighbor Peelar is a rude and uncooperative person. Andre tries to collaborate with Peelar to repair a canal, but their conflicts remain unresolved. Peelar even kills Andre's hunting dog and manages to prevent him from prosecuting his crime. Andre believes Peelar is a thorough rogue and is driven by a desire for revenge, while Krutt often mediates between her husband and the neighbor's disputes. Over time, "justice" becomes the most important thing to Andre, as he relentlessly pursues the goal of seeking justice for himself and others. However, this obsession with justice leads him into solitude, as the "justice" he seeks is not always recognized by society and often brings more pain and hardship.
