In order to save financial expenses, the state government plans to close one of the two police academies led by Lassard and Mauser. To outperform each other in the competition for survival, the two principals each do their best. Mauser flatters the governor and the superintendent and secretly plants two moles in Lassard's police academy; while Lassard recalls former outstanding students to serve as instructors. Thus, Mahoney (Steve Guttenberg), Captain Harris, Tackleberry, and four others return to the police academy once again. To win, Mauser drives the students he dislikes over to Lassard's academy. Soon, a group of quirky students gathers at Lassard's police academy: from the cowardly bespectacled man and the gangster leader from the previous installment to a Japanese exchange student skilled in karate. Mahoney and the others must turn the students into qualified police officers in a short time, but this task is not easy; in addition to the limitations of the students' own qualities, Mauser's gang is also secretly sabotaging...
