During the Republic of China, Yan Zi Li San (played by Yuan Biao) is known as a Robin Hood, robbing the rich to help the poor. He moves in and out of deep mansions as if they were unguarded; to find his lost love, Jin Lan (played by Zhu Yin), he rescues many young girls; he helps a down-and-out soldier, Hong Lai Fu (played by Xu Jin Jiang), heal his elderly mother.
