At the end of the Warring States period, war raged on, with constant attacks and the suffering of the common people largely ignored. Prince Ying Zheng of the Qin state was held as a hostage in Zhao as a child, and a kind-hearted woman from the Yan state raised him alongside her son, Gao Jianli. After King Xiang's death, Ying Zheng returned to Qin with the envoy to ascend to the throne, while the two friends went their separate ways. Upon becoming the King of Qin, Ying Zheng (played by Jiang Wen) commanded the armies of the three Qins to conquer cities and lands, instilling fear in the lords of various states. After defeating Zhao, the unification of the realms seemed imminent. Remembering their past, Ying Zheng hoped to find Gao Jianli (played by Ge You) to compose "Qin Song." Gao refused to comply, ultimately becoming a prisoner, but through this unfortunate turn, he met the beautiful princess of Luyang (played by Xu Qing). Jealous Wang Ben (played by Wang Ning) left a humiliating mark on Gao's forehead. Out of respect and love, the princess personally comforted him, while Gao, seeking death, resorted to raping the princess. Their bond thus became an inseparable and chaotic entanglement. With the six states destroyed and the country unified, under the threat to the lives of thousands, Gao Jianli composed the moving "Qin Song"…
