In the early years of the Republic, the last emperor of the Qing dynasty, Puyi, was controlled by the Japanese, who established a puppet Manchukuo government in the north. The Japanese, Itagaki Seishiro and Kawashima Yoshiko, set up a gas base, cruelly harming the Chinese people. Uncle Cai had served in the army and practiced medicine. One day, he was entrusted by the locals to rescue people in the jungle. During the perilous journey, he discovered a group of soldiers harmed by gas. Uncle Cai tried his best to save them, but the brigade commander was beyond help. Before dying, he handed over the heavy responsibility of resisting the enemy to Meng Dahai. Eager to serve his country, Uncle Cai wanted to join the army but was refused. Uncle Cai infiltrated the palace, disguised as a chef, and reunited with Meng Dahai and others. Their goal was to find the map of the gas base located at Yangtze No. 1, but their actions were discovered by Itagaki Seishiro and Kawashima Yoshiko. Thus, Uncle Cai and the others fled to another place, and along the way, Uncle Cai rescued a woman named Lan. A group of people gathered their strength, preparing to launch a major attack on the gas base. After several fierce battles, they finally achieved victory.
