American couple Roy (Woody Harrelson) and Jessie (Emily Mortimer) vacationing from Beijing to Moscow by train meet Spanish guy Carlos (Eduardo Noriega) and American girl Abby (Kate Mara). When the train stops in the Siberian town of Irkutsk, Roy misses the train due to his sightseeing greed, and Carlos and Abby decide to wait with Jessie at the next station, Ilansky, for Roy to catch the next train. Flirtatious Carlos quickly pursues Jessie, complicating what was meant to be a simple sightseeing trip. Meanwhile, another passenger in the same cabin as the couple is Russian drug enforcement officer Grinko (Ben Kingsley), and as the situation grows more bizarre, the couple finds themselves in deep crisis... The film won the Gaudí Award for Best Art Direction and Best Film Editing, along with nominations for Best Cinematography, Best Foreign Language Film, Best Sound, and Best Visual Effects. It also received Saturn Award nominations for Best Actress (Emily Mortimer), Best International Film, and Best Supporting Actor (Woody Harrelson).
