This film depicts Princess Dala of Switzerland hosting a masquerade ball, where various guests gather to witness the allure of the Pink Panther diamond. Both a diamond thief and rebels covet the princess's diamond. Inspector Clouseau from France arrives in Switzerland to capture the diamond thief. Sir Charles has a gentlemanly charm, enchanting both the princess and Mrs. Clouseau, with whom he secretly has an affair. At the ball, Clouseau catches Sir Charles in the act of theft, but the diamond mysteriously disappears; Mrs. Clouseau and the princess devise a clever plan to exonerate Charles, framing Inspector Clouseau and turning him overnight into a household name as a diamond thief.
