Ma Dacheng from Changqing Commune drives a cart full of fertilizer down the center of a bustling road in the suburbs of the capital. To ensure the supply of vegetables and environmental sanitation in the capital, Beijing authorities decided to ban horse-drawn carts from entering the city and appointed Ai Jinghua to equip a batch of cars in Changqing Commune to replace the carts for vegetable delivery. However, the cart drivers, led by Ma Dacheng, regarded Ai Jinghua as a thorn in their side. Ma Dacheng's son, Ma Sanbei, stood by his fiancée Ai Jinghua and fought against his father. At the wedding banquet, Ma Dacheng eventually realized that Ai Jinghua was his daughter-in-law, leading to mutual understanding between the father-in-law and the daughter-in-law. With horse-drawn carts no longer allowed in the city, Ma Dacheng continues to drive his cart on the suburban road, fulfilling the transport mission that cars cannot accomplish.
