During the Anti-Japanese War, railway worker Li Yuhe (played by Hao Liang) bears the responsibility of assisting underground party couriers. His young daughter Tie Mei (voiced by Liu Changyu) is influenced by her surroundings and shares the same patriotism and revolutionary fervor as her non-blood-related father and grandmother (played by Gao Yuqian). One night, a courier carrying important codes is forced to jump from the train and is injured by Japanese gunfire. Li Yuhe carries him home but is unable to save his life. Meanwhile, Japanese Military Police Captain Juyama (played by Yuan Shihai) is ordered to conduct a citywide hunt to find the crucial code. At a critical moment, a traitor appears in the revolutionary ranks, and Juyama sets his sights on Li Yuhe. The ruthless enemy will stop at nothing to find the code. The Li family faces the most severe test of the revolution... This drama is adapted from the film "The Legacy of Later Generations" and is one of the eight model operas during the Cultural Revolution.
