Set three years after the events of the first Sicario film, this sequel opens near the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas. Following a terrorist's failed attempt to cross into the U.S. through a cartel smuggling operation, which ends in a suicide bombing in Kansas City, the drug war at the U.S.-Mexico border escalates, prompting federal agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) to team up once again with the volatile Alejandro (Benicio del Toro).
