In Ukraine, single mother Olga (played by Ekateryna Rak) is dissatisfied with her low-paying job in a hospital and goes to Austria seeking better life possibilities. She becomes a pornography video actress, works as a nanny for wealthy families, and has also worked in a cleaning company, facing constant upheaval and various setbacks in her life. Olga works as a cleaner in a hospital where the wards are filled with elderly patients. Both the elderly at the end of their lives and Olga, living on the edge, are lonely and desperate. Meanwhile, young Paul (played by Paul Hofmann) in Austria is struggling to make ends meet; he breaks up with his girlfriend over a dog, is pursued for debts, and finds himself broke, beaten, and humiliated. Desperate, Paul travels to Ukraine. In a dim hotel room, he watches his stepfather amusedly interacting with a prostitute, which holds no interest for him; he is only concerned about money... Two young people from Ukraine and Austria travel to each other's countries but are unable to escape the constraints of survival.
