The percussionist Yi He, who is about to surpass the appropriate marriage age, meets his neighbor Da Ren. The two of them become closer after engaging in heartfelt conversations and getting drunk at a pub. When Yi He's family finds out, they mistakenly believe Yi He is pregnant and pressure the couple to get married. During the wedding preparations, Yi He's father, grandmother, and Da Ren bustle around as if they are one family, while Yi He feels excluded and unable to participate. Throughout the events, Yi He contemplates the reasons for embarking on the path of marriage while considering his father's expectations and reluctance. Yi He faces the conflicting emotions brought by this "lifelong event." On the day of the wedding, Yi He ultimately decides to run away and go to the place he truly longs for.
