Rick (Kenneth Branagh) is a highly experienced criminal defense lawyer who, with his clear logic and exceptional eloquence, has remained at the forefront of his industry, boasting an undefeated record for eight consecutive years. However, while his career is thriving, Rick's marriage is withering and on the brink of collapse, as he and his wife Leni (Famke Janssen) have recently begun drafting a divorce agreement. One day, as Rick leaves his celebration party and prepares to head home, he encounters a waitress named Jasmine (Embeth Davidtz), who informs him that her car has been stolen. Out of sympathy, Rick offers to drive Jasmine home, unknowingly getting entangled in a bizarre case. Rick decides to become Jasmine's defense attorney, and while navigating the complex clues, he gradually finds himself ensnared in the gentle trap woven by Jasmine.
