The friendly and cautious New Zealand team leader Rob Hall (played by Jason Clarke) leads a group called "Adventure Consultants," while Scott Fischer (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) is humorous and quirky, leading the "Muddy Mountain" climbing team from Seattle. They compete with each other while also helping one another. The warriors in both teams come from various professions, including postal workers, journalists, doctors, and a professional woman from Japan. These climbers seem ordinary, but each has a dream that drives them to ascend over 8,000 meters to the oxygen-thin summit of Everest. During the climb, their physical functions rapidly decline, and while coping with exhaustion, hypoxia, and snow blindness, they are unfortunately caught in a severe snowstorm, making their lives hang by a thread. The film is adapted from a true expedition that took place in 1996.
