Captain (played by Cheng Zeshi) and Ah Ying (played by Xu Guanying) disguise themselves as corpse transporters, accompanied by five accomplices dressed as zombies, to smuggle opium through Maxiangping. The local tyrant, Lord Miao, forces Captain to carry a corpse out of town, having killed musician Ah Chang to take over a singer. The seven head into the primitive forest, accidentally leaving the corpse in a sulfur swamp, and inadvertently settle for the night at an inn. That night, one accomplice is murdered, and the villagers spread rumors of a vengeful ghost. Captain and the remaining five gather garlic and other items to exorcise the ghost in the wilderness. After several confrontations in an ancient tomb, Captain and his group are defeated. After escaping with Ah Ying, they return to Maxiangping to inform Lord Miao, only to learn the ghost's motive is to seek revenge on Lord Miao. Captain sees the Taoist priest failing to combat the vengeful ghost and attempts to blackmail Lord Miao, but is instead subdued and used as bait in the battle against the ghost...
