The film focuses on Operation Mincemeat, planned by the Allies during World War II, which resulted in the annihilation of hundreds of thousands of German troops and laid the foundation for the victory in the war. In 1943, the Allies decided to break Hitler's hold over the occupied territories of Europe. Intelligence officers Ewen (played by Colin Firth) and Charles (played by Matthew Macfadyen) devised an ingenious false intelligence strategy: to mislead the Germans with a corpse carrying fake secrets, diverting their attention to Greece. Once Hitler fell for the ruse, the Allies landed in Sicily, destroying nearly 200,000 German troops and establishing a solid foundation for victory on the European battlefield.
