In 1944, as World War II neared its end, Nazi forces established three concentration camps in eastern Poland for holding death row prisoners, one of which was called Sobibor. Another camp experienced a mass escape, prompting the officials overseeing Sobibor to vow that such an event would never happen there. In this camp, filled with torture, escaping was the only way out. Even more severely, if a group of prisoners managed to escape, the Germans would execute an equivalent number of prisoners. Any large-scale escape would mean certain death for the responsible guards and the Nazi officials. However, one death row prisoner managed to lead 600 inmates in a mass breakout from this heavily guarded camp, with 300 successfully escaping, which became a miracle in history. (Source: VeryCD.com)
