The film tells the story of a gunman filled with rage, John Henry Clayton (played by Kiefer Sutherland), who returns to his hometown to mend his estranged relationship with his father (played by Donald Sutherland). He struggles to break free from the shadow of his brother William's drowning due to an accident years ago, but gets caught in a conflict over land between local farmers and capitalists. After enduring much, he decides to take up arms again when the capitalists target his father, a pastor, seeking revenge on those evil men!
