On a foggy morning, a motorcycle carrying two helmeted girls drove onto an overpass. Suddenly, the motorcycle accelerated violently, crashed into the guardrail, and plunged down from the bridge. This traffic accident provided new clues to the Jade Mahjong case that had been shelved by the Public Security Bureau for ten years. A Mahjong tile was found on the deceased, Lan Yun, and it was also Lan Yun who requested the investigation into the whereabouts of this set of Mahjong. Criminal Police Captain Chen Ting received the report and immediately began an investigation. In Lan Yun's bedroom, Chen Ting found a photo of her with a young man. It turned out that this young man, Pei Ning, was the owner of the motorcycle. Chen Ting went to inquire with the manager of Lan Yun's workplace, who stated that Lan Yun was an art designer and that the person involved in the accident with her was He Chen. Both had fallen in love with Pei Ning, and Lan Yun had even slapped Pei Ning twice. Chen Ting investigated Pei Ning, who recounted that about half a year ago, he accompanied the flamboyantly dressed Lan Yun to a flea market, not expecting her to flirt heavily with the clothing dealer Tang Xiaoliang. Since then, Pei Ning distanced himself from Lan Yun and grew closer to He Chen. Tang Xiaoliang sneaked into the morgue and stole the Mahjong tile from Lan Yun. The police followed and discovered that Tang Xiaoliang and singer Song Yuan were also inquiring about the whereabouts of this Mahjong set. One night, Song Yuan called a man, and the police immediately traced the phone number. Chen Ting felt hopeful about solving the case. However, Song Yuan was murdered. Chen Ting promptly arrested the man, who turned out to be He Chen's father, He Weiming—Lan Yun's next-door neighbor and the Party Office director at Lan's father's workplace. He was the one who stole the Jade Mahjong set from Lan's family during the Cultural Revolution. However, the case was not over. Lan Yun's death severely tormented He Chen; she arrived at the accident site in a wheelchair and mourned her friend for a long time, deeply pained by her conscience. She contemplated electrocution to take her own life, but the arriving Chen Ting interrupted her by cutting the power line with a gun. It turned out that He Chen had learned that the Mahjong set Lan Yun was investigating was actually in her own home, leaving her in shock. Understanding Lan Yun's character, she borrowed Pei Ning's motorcycle, intending to end her life together with Lan Yun. Tang Xiaoliang deeply loved Lan Yun. After her death, he also went mad. He traced the words "eternal and indelible" in blood with his finger on Lan Yun's tombstone. Chen Ting also visited the grave. The case was solved, but people had died. Why must people fight and kill each other like this? He hoped this would be the last such case.
