Amei (played by Brigitte Lin) is a beautiful girl, but she was born with a disability in her feet. Her father (played by Huang Zhan) was tricked by his cousin into buying a run-down supermarket, spending all his life savings, which led him to become somewhat insane. Amei must take care of her father and help manage the supermarket, bearing the heavy burden of life on her shoulders. After a traffic accident, the driver Leung Siu-Chu (played by Chow Yun-fat) mistakenly believes he has disabled Amei and feels extremely guilty, deciding to help her run the supermarket. Amei initially distrusts Leung Siu-Chu, but later, touched by his efforts and the support of his friends in helping her supermarket through difficulties, she falls in love with him.
