A wave of excruciating pain made the usually strong Fan Baode realize that his body could not withstand the passage of time. A burst of firecrackers announced the innkeeper Yuqin's entry into the local election race, pitting her against the Fan family. As the election heats up and health issues arise, many past memories are awakened from the depths of Fan Baode's mind. Perhaps due to the approaching death, he decides to go to Japan with his son to inquire about his father, who left home fifty years ago. On the other hand, Yuqin recruits her nephew from Hong Kong to help with the campaign. Although he is unfamiliar with the area, there seems to be a subtle connection to him here.
