In the late Qing Dynasty, Deng Er, living in the British occupied area of New Street, dies from shock after being frightened by the British army. Today, this place has turned into a construction site, where the ghost of Deng San often causes trouble, preventing workers from starting their jobs. The new engineer Lin Feng becomes acquainted with Deng San through a series of non-confrontational events, and they form a close friendship, allowing the construction to proceed smoothly. A political figure is set to attend the groundbreaking ceremony, but a girl named Shan Shan from the future suddenly appears, intending to kill Lin Feng, as Lin Feng is supposed to murder that political figure during the ceremony, which would have a disastrous impact on society. However, Shan Shan learns that Lin Feng had saved her in her childhood, leading to her internal conflict. As the date of the ceremony approaches, Shan Shan's prophecy gradually unfolds, and thus, the spirits of the Qing Dynasty, Deng Er, the present-day architect Lin Feng, and the future girl Shan Shan come together to remedy the future.
