Cross-border drug investigation team leader Law Ying Choi (played by Zhang Zhaohui) gets embroiled in a bribery scandal and is transferred to a local police station by his superior Ma Wenchao (played by Ren Dahua). He takes over the investigation of a corpse discovery case from Inspector Zhang Jiayin (played by Shao Meiqi). The victim, Hu Yingyong (played by He Huachao), has been dead for eight years, and his body was found by a maintenance worker during a redevelopment project in an old building. Law Ying Choi identifies the suspects as Lan Mianchao (played by Hong Tianming) and the victim's wife Yan Fengping (played by Chen Jing), both of whom had a motive of adultery leading to murder. The case faces skepticism from senior prosecuting officer Shan Dushi (played by Joe Junior). The victim had a notorious history, involving rape, drug trafficking, and extortion, and was tied to Law Ying Choi in some undisclosed dealings with gangster boss Fei Wei (played by Lin Xue).
