By chance, auto mechanic Lei Haiyang (played by Pan Yueming) becomes a witness to a rape case. Previously accused by his girlfriend Yan Zi (played by Li Jiaxuan) of being too weak, Lei Haiyang wants to step up but ultimately succumbs to his own cowardice, watching helplessly as a stranger girl falls into a dark abyss. This incident becomes a permanent wound in Lei Haiyang's heart, and after much contemplation, he reports the case to the police. A badly disfigured female corpse is discovered near the highway, and upon identification, Lei Haiyang believes this is the girl who was raped that day. Her death intensifies the trauma in Lei Haiyang's heart, filling him with guilt.
