During the chaotic period of the Five Barbarians, the Western Shu soldier spy Di Mingqi (played by Yuan Biao) is fortunate to be rescued by the Nanhai faction's Ding Yin (played by Cheng Shaoqiu), thus avoiding falling into the clutches of the evil sect. Impressed by Ding Yin's exceptional martial arts skills, he strongly encourages him to step up and help save the people from suffering and wishes to be his disciple, but Ding Yin declines. Ding Yin's junior, the leader of the Kunlun faction, Xiao Ru (played by Lau Shung-Yuen), is possessed by the Blood Demon during a battle with the evil sect's protector. Ding Yin decides to take him to the Yaochi Fairy Fortress for healing. As Ding Yin is the fated one who can keep the fortress's icy flames burning, the fortress’s Master (played by Lin Qingxia) emerges from her meditation to save Xiao Ru. However, after Ding Yin accidentally gets injured by the Blood Demon, the Master, having exhausted her energy in saving Xiao Ru, is unable to assist further and can only shatter the ice mirror to freeze the Blood Demon, but everyone else is also trapped in ice, leaving only Di Mingqi, Xiao Ru's disciple Yizhen (played by Meng Hai), and a female disciple of the fairy fortress (played by Li Saifeng) to escape. To save the world, the three decide to go to Tian Dao Peak to find the heroine Li Yiqi (played by Weng Qianyu) and the Purple and Green Twin Swords.
