Despite her father being a renowned infidelity investigator and having witnessed countless loyal relationships turn into illusions, Elaine (Audrey Hepburn) still holds infinite hope and longing for love. She even believes that only those relationships that are known to be immoral yet still bravely face challenges can be considered true love. By chance, Elaine meets her father's investigation subject, Frank (Gary Cooper) — a charming playboy who thrives in the love game. Elaine fabricates a false identity and begins to portray a mysterious woman in front of Frank, unexpectedly capturing the genuine heart of this playboy with her pure and sincere affection. Frank hires a private detective to investigate Elaine's whereabouts, only to discover that the detective is Elaine’s father. Under pressure from her father, the two who are meant for each other are forced to part ways, and it seems that this destined couple is about to miss each other.
