In the late Tang Dynasty, during the period of feudal lords, various kings such as Liu, Duan, and Li in the northwest Yellow River basin sought to seize power, leading to constant warfare. Lord Liu (Ji Chunhua) captures the Duan royal residence, and when Lord Duan (Jin Dema) flees for his life, he is saved by the Yellow River hero Ma Yi (Yu Chenghui). Soon after, Ma Yi's village is brutally attacked by Lord Liu’s army. All of this is witnessed by Lord Li (Zhao Zhigang). Ma Yi befriends the wandering artist Che Tian (Chunyu Shanshan), who, seeing his exceptional martial arts skills, encourages him to perform and make money. Later, Lord Li sends someone to persuade Ma Yi to join his side, but when that fails, Ma Yi is blinded by poison. Mistakenly believing that Che Tian is responsible for his plight, he seeks revenge, but after clearing the misunderstanding, the two become blood brothers. Soon after, Lord Duan invites Ma Yi to his residence, and despite his blindness, Ma Yi's sword skills remain unmatched, so Lord Duan treats him as a “benefactor” and uses him to eliminate Lord Liu. When Lord Duan sends assassins to intercept Lord Li but fails, he plans to kill his daughter Zhenzhen (Wan Qiong), who is saved by Ma Yi, who happens to be passing by. Upon learning of this, Lord Duan devises another scheme, while Zhenzhen and Ma Yi begin to develop feelings for each other.
