Traveling musician Ignacio Carrillo (Marciano Martínez) decides to set off in search of his teacher, Master Gra, to return a "devil" accordion with two black horns after his wife's death. Young rich man Fumin Morales (Yull Núñez) insists on following Ignacio to learn the art of playing the accordion, but the stubborn Ignacio refuses, claiming Fumin lacks talent. The two travel with a donkey through the vast plains and rugged mountains of South America, earning money by battling musicians at local town music festivals when they lack travel funds. During one performance, Fumin discovers his drumming skills and undergoes a transformation with the blood of a mysterious tribal lizard. Discontent with Ignacio's arrogant ways, Fumin leaves in a huff but discovers the "devil accordion" at a music festival in the nearby town of Guasila, while Ignacio disappears...
