On October 10, 1942, the Wang puppet government held a grand celebration for the National Government. However, a series of assassination attempts on military and political leaders left the head of the secret police, Wang Tianxiang (played by Wang Zhiwen), on edge. During the torture interrogation of a female assassin (played by Liu Weiwei), he obtained a crucial piece of intelligence—an underground party member codenamed "Old Ghost" had infiltrated the anti-bandit command. Eager to make achievements, Wang Tianxiang immediately reported to the head of the Japanese Imperial Army's intelligence, Takeda (played by Huang Xiaoming). The two then set a trap in Qiu Zhuang, intending to lure "Old Ghost" out by releasing false information.
