In the 1960s, Japan was buzzing with a restless and fervent atmosphere after experiencing the Great Depression and rapid economic development. One summer, a high school student named Kaoru Nishimi, seemingly disconnected from the times, quietly transferred from Yokosuka to an ordinary town in Nagasaki Prefecture. He was handsome, came from a well-off family, excelled academically, and was skilled at playing the piano; however, Kaoru had difficulty maintaining eye contact with others, which would lead to nausea due to his anxiety.
