One day, he travels to the United States and becomes a lodger of the widow Charlotte (played by Melanie Griffith). When he sees Charlotte's beautiful 14-year-old daughter, Lolita (played by Dominique Swain), he falls madly in love with her. In fact, Charlotte wishes to marry Humbert, hoping for support for herself and her daughter. To stay close to Lolita, Humbert marries Charlotte. Soon, Charlotte discovers her husband's obsession with her daughter and, in her anger, has a fatal car accident. Humbert brings Lolita, who is at summer camp, to his side, hiding the news of her mother's death while traveling across America. They embark on an illicit affair. Faced with the seductive Lolita, Humbert is obedient in every way, but Lolita grows tired of him and plots her escape...
