Just out of college, Ben (Dustin Hoffman) is very confused about his future, and it is at this time that he encounters the alluring Mrs. Robinson (Anne Bancroft). Although no longer young, Mrs. Robinson repeatedly seduces Ben, and they begin an affair. During their dates, Ben meets Mrs. Robinson's daughter Elaine (Katharine Ross) and is deeply attracted to her youthful innocence. Ben expresses his love, and he and Elaine start a normal relationship, but they are met with fierce opposition from Mrs. Robinson. The mother's fury makes Elaine aware of the situation. Heartbroken, Elaine hastily agrees to another person's marriage proposal. Ben rushes to the church where Elaine is getting married, determined to win her back...
