Australian director Warwick Thornton, who won the Golden Camera Award at the Cannes Film Festival for his feature debut, writes and directs "New Boy," starring Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett as a nun in wartime Australia in the 1940s. She takes in an Indigenous boy who is unaccustomed to beds and does not speak civilized language but is full of spirit. The story unfolds until she discovers the secret of the boy's glowing palms. The stunning desolate imagery combined with the score crafted by rock poet Nick Cave and Warren Ellis evokes deep emotion and successfully transforms the unknown and mysterious into a profound visual experience. Through the visuals, it also seems to question Christian civilization, asking if faith can only have one path?
