Movie Title: Prairie Eagle Director: Ling Zifeng, Dong Kena Writer: Wu Yuxiao Main Cast: Abdulrahman Awazi, Nurnisa Simayi, Sadeke, Lipo, Silai Ding Silin Release: 1964 Region: Mainland China Color: Color Genre: Drama Production Company: Beijing Film Studio [China] Synopsis: Adapted from the play "Distant Youth." Ali and Amina study veterinary medicine in university and, full of hopes for life, step into their new job at Tianshan Horse Farm. Here, Amina encounters her former classmate Kader from vocational school. Kader loves the grasslands, his work, and wholeheartedly serves the herdsmen, cares for the health of the horses, and learns from the community. He rigorously studies the technology and is affectionately called "a mountain eagle of our region" by the herdsmen. Amina dismisses Kader's efforts, thinking he lacks lofty ideals by being busy with work, while she dedicates herself to theoretical research, viewing it as a great cause. However, when a mare has trouble giving birth and the foal's life is in danger, she finds herself helpless. Ali is self-serving, seeking fame, arrogant and autocratic, looking down on the community and Kader. When he hesitates to operate on a sick horse out of fear of failure reflecting poorly on him, Kader decides to take matters into his own hands to save the horse. Ultimately, the operation fails, causing Kader great distress. The old herdsman Kashi Baik encourages Kader, saying, "What’s failure? In our Kazakh, we have a saying, the wings of a mountain eagle are earned by flying. Keep it up, young man; the uncle trusts you!" However, Ali smugly ridicules Kader's actions as reckless. Later, Kader perseveres and finally succeeds in his surgery. Ali, yearning for fame, whimsically suggests eliminating this illness by opening new natural pastures and requests approval from the farm leadership for a survey. During the pasture survey, he merely takes a cursory look and returns quickly. Without performing thorough research and being unwilling to listen to community opinions, he mistakenly selects the variable climate and unsuitable Heishan area as an ideal pasture and unauthorizedly moves the horse herd there. Soon, Heishan becomes the center of a spring blizzard, leading to severe complications with the mares. Kader, with the farm director's consent, bravely rushes to Heishan amidst the storm to perform an emergency rescue, preventing a major disaster. Reality educates Amina, making her realize that scientific research must be combined with production practice, and great achievements emerge from practice. She resolves to learn from Kader. Under the guidance of leadership and the support of the community, Ali comes to understand the seriousness of his mistakes, reflecting deeply on how his subjective arrogance and pursuit of personal gain caused significant losses to the country, and he requests punishment from the leadership. The leadership and colleagues critically and seriously address his mistakes and help guide him onto the right path.
