The assassination of President Kennedy plunges Frank (Clint Eastwood), his close bodyguard, into a deep sense of guilt. Even after many years, he feels that his negligence and carelessness caused this tragedy. One day, a mysterious phone call alerts him. The caller, a man named Mitch (John Malkovich), informs Frank that he plans to assassinate the current president and invites Frank to play a so-called "game," the success or failure of which will directly impact the president's fate. As events unfold, Frank decides that he must protect the president's safety at all costs this time. Who is this Mitch? What are his intentions? A series of intense and dangerous chase games begins as Frank confronts these questions.
