A sudden fire breaks out in an aircraft manufacturing plant in Los Angeles. Worker Burkin (played by Robert Cummings) and his friend Jane bravely attempt to extinguish the flames, but Jane unfortunately perishes in the inferno. Subsequent investigations reveal that the fire extinguisher Burkin handed to Jane was filled with kerosene, leading the police to designate Burkin as a major suspect and initiate a manhunt. As Burkin recalls the incident, he realizes the extinguisher actually belonged to a worker named Fry, but the police do not allow him a chance to explain. In a critical moment, Burkin manages to escape and embarks on a journey to locate Fry to clear his name. At a farm where Fry had worked, Burkin discovers that the farm owner, Dubin, is also involved in this matter and hastily flees. During his flight, Burkin meets advertising model Petty (Priscilla Lane) and wins her trust through his sincerity, leading them to travel together. In a remote town where Fry might be hiding, Burkin disguises himself as Dubin's subordinate to infiltrate a mysterious sabotage organization...
