Moses (Christian Bale) and Pharaoh Ramses II (Joel Edgerton) are good brothers with a deep bond. Moses receives a divine mandate and is determined to rescue thousands of Jewish people from their suffering. He seeks help from Ramses, but this friend firmly refuses him. Moreover, Ramses conducts inhumane massacres against the Jews. To punish Ramses' atrocities, God unleashes the "Ten Plagues" upon Egypt, plunging the land into chaos and the shadow of death. However, Ramses does not awaken to his wrongdoings, and ultimately, he becomes Moses' arch-enemy. Moses understands his mission; he leads 400,000 Hebrews on a long journey in search of a homeland that belongs to them.
