The story takes place in the mid-17th century in the Netherlands. Druyte (Frank Lammers) inherits the position of Marten (Rutger Hauer) and becomes the new Admiral, proving his wisdom and strength through a series of victories, earning the trust and respect of his subordinates. Republican official John (Barry Atsma) and Prince William III of the Orange Party (Egbert Jan Weeber) engage in a no-holds-barred struggle for power.
