This film is adapted from the Ubisoft video game of the same name released in 2003. Fifteen years ago, the orphan Dastan (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) was adopted by the Persian king for his courageous spirit. Fifteen years later, adult Dastan, alongside his two brothers and uncle (played by Ben Kingsley), embarks on a campaign to raid the holy city of Alamut and receives the king's promise to marry the princess Tamina (played by Gemma Arterton). Dastan inadvertently comes into possession of the Dagger of Time, which Tamina fiercely protects, but he is falsely accused of poisoning the old king and is forced to flee. To clear his name and ensure that the great Persian Empire does not fall into his hands, Dastan coerces Princess Tamina to join him in the infamous "Valley of Slaves," disrupting the ostrich race hosted by the chieftain Amar (played by Alfred Molina). At the old king's funeral, Dastan finally discovers the true culprit, and Princess Tamina ultimately reveals the secret of the Dagger of Time in full...
