Young Kyle (Channing Tatum) returns from the front lines in Afghanistan to work in the Congressional security department, with his ultimate dream of protecting President Sawyer (Jamie Foxx). Kyle has a young daughter, Emily (Joey King), from his divorced wife, who has become a political fanatic, particularly admiring President Sawyer and the White House due to her father's military service. To make his daughter happy, Kyle promises to take her on a one-day tour inside the White House while also applying for a job in the Secret Service led by Cara (Maggie Gyllenhaal). However, on that same day, a group of unidentified armed intruders infiltrate the White House and hunt for President Sawyer, setting the stage for a bloody crisis.
