In response to the increasingly rampant terrorism after 9/11, U.S. President Henry Ashton (played by William Hurt) meets with leaders from Western and Arab countries in Salamanca, Spain, to forge a new anti-terror alliance. On this sunny day, the square is crowded with people from various social backgrounds, creating a noisy atmosphere. President Ashton’s motorcade arrives amid cheers and protests, with senior agent Thomas Barnes (played by Dennis Quaid), who was shot six months ago while protecting the president, at the forefront, vigilantly monitoring suspicious individuals around him. Unexpectedly, as the president is about to give a speech, two bullets hit him. Chaos erupts in the square: some people flee in panic, others rush to the podium, while some take advantage of the confusion to cause havoc. The ensuing explosion completely destroys this beautiful day. Through the perspectives of a female news director, President Ashton, Barnes, and several individuals related to the incident, the bloody truth behind the day gradually unfolds...
